I'm re-assesing how I use the internet for these things, and in general. At the moment I'm having most fun with photos, and will be posting updates on Cargo Collective. Also Flickr, but as this account is now downgraded this will be slower than before. Toms website breaks of 10 have a selection of recent photographs online also.

I've moved out of my Baltimore apartment, and am now staying with numerous friends before my flight to London. Currently in Michelle and Rivkahs basement ♥.

Someone said the volcano is coming up roses again, plus British Airways have gone on strike, so i might be sticking around a while.

It's now May 2010 somehow, come September i'll be getting older and starting my final year at the ECA. I'm working on a photography book for Regina Deluise and different colour zines for myself. I have a black and white collection of photographs, Penny Dreadful, soon to be available via fourteen-nineteen, and their exciting new online store. I made some money getting my photo taken in New York and recently spent time putting together photographs for Jess Gough and Platform.com.

Otherwise, school is out. looks like i'll be around Baltimore/Brooklyn/London and Edinburgh until winter comes. For the most part dealing with the idea of transatlantic changes and the worrying feeling that i don't want to be anywhere. hope everyone is having fun

Mythology - Ariadnes Thread

This project was in response to Mythology, and what having your body means to you.

“Your body is what your emotional life, awareness and personal history have in common”

I was thinking about having my body, and using it to get somewhere, to get lost. With the story of the Labyrinth in mind, each person would choose a length of yarn they felt attached to. In Greek Mythology a length of yarn was used to guide Theseus to safety.
I related parts of the story to the world around me.
Daedalus made the labyrinth so cunningly that he himself could barely escape it

This project was in response to the word Distort.

I was looking at intimacy, and how these images taken of my friends distort the meaning of closeness, and the entire process of photography.

Within one afternoon I had taken photos of 6 friends, but in Glasgow, Coventry, Detroit, Manchester, Sydney and right here in Baltimore, without having left my empty bedroom.

I had a surprise visit to the doctors the other day because my cheek hurt, and I found out my wisdom teeth are in the wrong place and I was basically forever biting my gums, awesome. Thinking that was that and i could go home and just be more careful, i learned i was actually in for some quick dentistry. After those lovely needles and injections in my mouth that everyone loves, Dr.forgottenhisname clamped onto my skull and pulled out my poor tooth :( It'd only been chillin with the rest of the team for like a month! What a shame. I got to keep it though, as gross as that may be.
In other newz i'm on the final stretch with finishing my Essay, with an entire weekend to go before my deadline which is a new and amazing feeling for me. This should come as good news to some people because i've been complaining about it for the best part of a month.
Getting bellyaches for the big move now, In a few days my flight leaves for Baltimore where i'll be setting up camp for a good part of 2010. (as long as no-one tries to blow their gentailia up)
I'll no doubt use this blog to be all emo about being billy-no-mates and posting what fun stuff i get up to in class. Hope MICA has some bleechers so i can go be a rebel and sit under them, pretending to be Randal 'Pink' Floyd or Jordan Catalano.

After her husband's death, she and four collaborators were accused of torturing and killing hundreds of virgin girls and young women, with one witness attributing to them over 600 victims, though she was only convicted on 80 counts.^[1] In 1610, she was imprisoned in Čachtice Castle, where she remained bricked in a set of rooms until her death four years later. She was never formally tried in court.

The case of Elizabeth Báthory inspired numerous stories during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The most common motif of these works was that of the countess bathing in her victims' blood in order to retain beauty or youth.

Freddy Ruppert

This Song Is a Mess but So Am I was the pseudonym of musician Freddy Ruppert, who hails from Los Angeles, CA. Heavily influenced by 1980’s gothic industrial and his fanatic obsession with Morrissey and The Smiths, This Song Is a Mess But So Am I was built on a dynamic of brutally honest, revealing lyrics and a strong combination of noise, experimental and electronic genres, to name but a few.

Former Ghosts is a new synthpop project from Freddy Ruppert, formerly of This Song Is a Mess But So Am I. The band is also comprised of Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart and Zola Jesus’ Nika Roza.

A rabbit punch is a blow to the neck or to the base of the skull. It is considered especially dangerous because it can damage the cervical vertebrae and subsequently the spinal cord, which may lead to serious spinal cord injury or even death.

A rabbit punch can also be a blow directly to the kidney region; this can often cause internal bleeding and often leads to cardiac arrest.

Chappaqua is a 1966 cult film written, directed by and starring Conrad Rooks. It is based on Rooks' experiences with drug addiction. It includes cameo appearances by a host of famous names of the 1960s: author William S. Burroughs, guru Swami Satchidananda, beat poetsAllen Ginsberg and Moondog, and Ravi Shankar, who co-wrote the score with Philip Glass. Rooks had commissioned jazz artist Ornette Coleman to compose music for the film, but his score, which has become known as the Chappaqua Suite was ultimately not used. Coleman too makes a cameo appearance in the film.

The film briefly depicts its namesake, Chappaqua, New York, a sleepy hamlet in Westchester County, in a few minutes of wintry panoramas. The hamlet is an overt symbol of drug-free, suburban childhood innocence, and is also one of the film's many nods to Native Americanculture. The northern Westchester area had been heavily inhabited by Native Americans; the word chappaqua itself derives from the Wappinger (a nation of the Algonquin tribe) word for 'laurel swamp'.
